But as you progress through this course and the complexity of your projects increase, you will notice that you will be solving problems using multiple files and maybe even custom libraries. A single file of code, execution, debugging and that will be it. In the beginning, it’s going to be very simple. We need to understand how to manage our code. In the first post where we learned how to execute our first C program in Code blocks, we had created a new project and proceeded from there. Create a project or Open an existing project. The tab marked ‘Start Here’ is where we will be writing all our code. If you see some extra tabs or toolbars, just ignore them, we will get to their usage a couple of steps down this post. So this is the first screen that you are going to see when you start Code Blocks. And that is something every beginner can use.
However if you know how to use Code Blocks and all its tools, it can make the process of coding a bit less unapproachable. The latest versions of gcc and g++ in 19.10 and 20.04 are gcc-9 and g++-9.An inventers imagination is only restricted by his tools, here we will learn about the different tools and hot keys available in Code Blocks that can be used to assist and streamline our programming approach. Note: It is permissible to install later versions of gcc and g++ from the default Ubuntu repositories alongside gcc and g++ and select them instead of gcc and g++ in the Code::Blocks compiler settings. Click the OK button to close the Compiler settings window.The C compiler should be gcc, the C++ compiler should be g++ and the Linker for dynamic libs should be g++. button(s) which are marked by the mouse cursor in the below screenshot. Install the g++ compiler for C++ sudo apt install g++ xterm The C++ compiler is not configured for any version of g++ by default, so it has to be configured in the Code::Blocks compiler settings. Your C++ program is not running in Code::Blocks because you do not have a C++ compiler (a version of G++) installed, or if it is installed you have not configured the C++ compiler in the Code::Blocks compiler settings.
